A refined twist on the classic shadowbox: 1x4 (3.5") dog-ear pickets are mounted on alternating sides of the rails so the panel reads identically from either yard while letting air and filtered light through. The narrower 1x4 picket — vs the 1x6 used on a standard shadowbox — produces a tighter rhythm and a more traditional cottage profile. Each back-row picket overlaps the front-row pickets by at least 25% of picket width, so there's no clear sight-line through the fence at any angle.
